Job summary

YW Calgary is seeking an Outreach Clinical Counsellor to provide trauma-informed counselling to individuals referred through the Equally Safe initiative. You will deliver short-term and ongoing support, focusing on safety, stabilization, and healthy relationships.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in family violence and with addictions and mental health.
  • Minimum of 2 years counselling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver counselling to individuals referred through Equally Safe; serve diverse adults.
  • Provide short-term counselling up to 12 sessions with safety and stabilization focus.
  • Offer trauma-informed services using CBT, DBT, and solution-focused approaches.
  • Conduct risk assessment, goal/service planning, psychoeducation and counselling support.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and emotional stabilization.
  • Select evidence-based interventions for survivors of family violence and mental health needs.
  • Support development of healthy relationships: emotion regulation, coping, problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with CPS and community partners for coordinated service delivery.
  • Navigate safe community locations for sessions; support referrals to YWCA resources.
  • Maintain case notes and complete required documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings and supervision for clinical support.
