Job summary

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division in Alberta is seeking Spare School Bus Drivers to cover routes on an on-call, day-to-day basis. Immediate or mutual start date available, with opportunities to advance to permanent routes across Wildwood, Evansburg, Edson & surrounding communities.

Join a dedicated transportation team with a focus on student safety. You will receive training (Class 2) and enjoy a flexible schedule that respects summers, weekends, and school holidays, all from the Edson

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
• Physical ability to perform required duties and pass a functional assessment.
• No experience? Training provided; courses held monthly.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from school on an on-call, day-to-day basis.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies while driving.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any issues as required.

Position: Spare School Bus Drivers

Location(s): Wildwood, Evansburg, Niton, Edson, Hinton, Jasper & Grande Cache Alberta

Start Date: Immediately or upon mutually agreeable start date until June 29, 2027

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division (GYPSD) is the third largest geographical school division in Alberta, spanning a vast area from Evansburg west along the Yellowhead Highway to Jasper, and north to Grande Cache. Operated from the Education Services Centre in Edson, the transportation department manages 54 school bus routes across five distinct zones within Yellowhead County, safely transporting over 2,200 students and covering more than 8,000 kilometers daily.

To ensure continuous, reliable operations across this extensive network, the Division employs Spare Drivers on a day-to-day basis to safely transport students to and from school in the absence of Permanent Full-Time School Bus Drivers.

The Division

Grande Yellowhead Public School Division stretches from Jasper National Park, east to Evansburg, south of Cadomin, and northwest to Grande Cache. The jurisdiction includes 15 schools, 5 Learning Connection Centres, approximately 5000 students and 600 staff.

In accordance with Board Policy, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following:

• A current RCMP Record check with Vulnerable Sector
• A current Alberta Government Child Intervention Record Check
