Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Program Manager, Transportation Design and Construction in Brampton to lead a team of project managers, analysts, and students through capital road projects from conception to delivery. You will coordinate design, construction, and contract administration, ensure budget adherence, and engage with Council and stakeholders.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with a P.Eng, 5 years in design/construction of roads, and 3 years of supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering combined with Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation.
• 5 years of progressive experience in design and construction of roads, and associated servicing.
• 3 years of progressive supervisory/management experience, or equivalent is required.
• Strong project management, and organizational skills, including strong knowledge of road design and engineering principles as they apply to the municipal engineering environment.
• Strong knowledge of applicable legislation such as the endangered species act, species at risk legislation etc., that must be adhered to during the design and construction process are required.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of project managers, technical analysts and students undertaking capital projects from start to completion.
• Coaches, mentors and motivates staff through the detailed design and construction of roads and Transit projects which support service level improvements to the Regional Road System.
• Determines opportunities to complete design and Contract Administration works in-house, where appropriate, to expedite the work and reduce costs.
• Lead capital projects and manage budgets and cash flows.
• Liaises with Council, senior management, residents and stakeholders to ensure open two way dialogue.
• Prepares Current Budget and provides input to the Capital Budget and coordination with water and wastewater sections.
• Guides project managers to write reports to obtain approvals from Council and agencies.
