Job summary

Purolator is seeking a Unit Manager for the Sherbrooke depot to supervise daily ground transportation operations, including dispatching and workforce planning. The role leads 30–40 unionized staff and collaborates with the management team to meet KPI targets.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Unit Manager oversees performance, training, and policy compliance in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership, communication, and French proficiency are required.

Qualifications

  • College diploma (DEC) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of operations experience in transportation/logistics.
  • Experience coaching employees; unionized environment a plus.
  • Energetic leadership style with ability to motivate a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to coordinate a wide range of tasks meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently; team-oriented under pressure.
  • French functional; knowledge of local area; proficiency with Microsoft tools and SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Managing daily operations related to sorting, delivery, and pickup activities.
  • Supervising a team of 30–40 unionized employees.
  • Achieving objectives outlined in the performance dashboard.
  • Managing employee performance according to standards and KPIs.

We are currently seeking a Unit Manager for our Sherbrooke depot (Transportation/Logistics Route Manager). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising daily ground transportation operations, including dispatching, workforce management, operational analysis, and planning activities, while working closely with other members of the management team.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Unit Manager is responsible for:

  • Managing daily operations related to sorting, delivery, and pickup activities;
  • Supervising a team of unionized employees (typically between 30 and 40 employees);
  • Achieving the objectives outlined in the operational performance dashboard;
  • Managing employee performance according to operational standards and key performance indicators;
  • Communicating and enforcing company policies, procedures, programs, and collective agreement provisions;
  • Recruiting new employees, coordinating training, and evaluating performance;
  • Compiling and submitting reports on the daily operational activities of the unit;
  • Performing other related and assigned duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • College diploma (DEC) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of operations experience in the transportation and logistics industry, with a strong understanding of industry methods, policies, and procedures
  • Experience managing and coaching employees (experience in a unionized environment is a significant asset)
  • Energetic leadership style with the ability to motivate a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to coordinate a wide range of tasks and responsibilities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under pressure

  • Knowledge of job‑related computer applications (Microsoft environment, SAP);
