Job summary

Associated Engineering in Calgary seeks an experienced Intermediate/Senior Transportation Engineer to lead highway and transportation projects. The role focuses on design, cost estimation, specifications, tendering, and contract administration with project leadership across the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in transportation, a Civil Engineering degree, and is registered or eligible for P.Eng with APEGA.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering with transportation electives or experience.
  • 15+ years of progressive transportation experience.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Committed team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to travel within Alberta.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on transportation designs, cost estimates, specs, and contract documents, including scheduling, budgeting, tendering and inspection.
  • Advance projects from concept through design and construction phases.
  • Maintain regular client communications to align expectations across all phases.
  • Deliver projects within identified schedules.
  • Mentor and coach engineers and technologists.
  • Collaborate with the team and other offices/disciplines.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Providing project technical leadership role with a team in the preparation of designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents, as well as participating in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, contract administration, and inspection as required.
  • Advancing projects through the concept, design, and construction phases.
  • Regular communications with clients to confirm expectations throughout all project phases.
  • Delivering projects within identified schedules.
  • Mentoring and coaching a team of engineers and technologists.
  • Engaging in a collaborative work environment with your team as well as other disciplines and offices.
Does this sound like you?
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution, with key transportation electives or transportation project experience.
  • 15+ years of progressive transportation experience.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Committed team player and the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Ability to travel within Alberta.
