Job summary

Halifax Transit seeks a Superintendent, Mobiles to lead mobile and security transit services in HRM. You will manage 24/7 operations, support 700+ operators and 400 assets, and drive safety programs and service improvements.

Applicants should have a related degree and at least three years of progressive leadership in public transit, with strong customer service and communications skills. The role is based at Burnside and Ragged Lake centers in Dartmouth/Halifax.

Qualifications

• Completion of a related University/College level program (criminology, police sciences, or business administration).
• Minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience in a complex, unionized public transit environment.
• Public transit operations management experience is an asset.
• Class 2 driver’s license an asset, or willingness to obtain.
• ICS-300 or willingness to obtain.
• Demonstrated track record of safe work practices and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day safe and efficient delivery of conventional transit service via mobile and security services.
• Direct leadership to Mobile Service Supervisors and provide oversight for security services.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with Emergency Operations Centre requirements.
• Recruitment, staffing decisions, and performance management within the division.
• Collaborate with HR and operations to plan bus stops, shelters, and facilities maintenance.
• Oversee incident reporting, audits, and data-driven service improvements.
