Domtar seeks a Training Supervisor to develop and deliver technical and operational training for Power & Recovery employees at the Skookumchuck mill. You will coordinate training plans, provide coaching, and maintain competency records to support safe, reliable operations.

The role requires Power Engineering certification, proven experience in industrial training, and strong communication skills to translate complex concepts into practical operator guidance.

• Develop Line of Progression (LOP) training plans, competency profiles, and evaluation tools.
• Coordinate weekly training meetings and coaching to address gaps and maintain training records.
• Review and edit LOP training and training matrices to ensure accuracy.
• Review area SOPs and lockouts as required.
• Conduct one-on-one training with operators using classroom, on-the-job, and online methods.
• Collaborate with Human Resources, Health & Safety, and Technical services on training programs.
• Assist with area outage and shutdown planning.
• Plan training schedules with Shift Supervisors.

The Training Supervisor is responsible for developing, delivering, coordinating, and maintaining technical and operational training for employees working in the Power & Recovery areas of the pulp mill. The role supports safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation by ensuring operators have the knowledge, practical skills, qualifications, and demonstrated competency required for their positions.

Key responsibilities and percentage of time spent on each:

• Work directly with the Department Manager to develop Line of Progression (LOP)training including training plans, competency profiles, assessment tools and evaluation methods 15
• Coordinate weekly training meetings with employee providing coaching support, identifying training gaps and developing plans to address gaps and maintain employee training records 15
• Review and edit line of progression training and training matrices 10
• Review area SOP’s and lockouts as required 10
• Conduct one-on-one training with operators using a variety of training methods (i.e. classroom, on the job, online) 15
• Work with Human Resources, Health and Safety and Technical services to coordinate corporate and Mill wide training 15
• Assist with area outage and shutdown planning 5
• Work with Shift Supervisors to plan training schedules 10

Education and Experience, Leadership, Technical, Innovation and Work Complexity

• Power Engineering certification is appropriate to provincial and site requirements.
• Experience as a Shift Engineer, Control Room Operator, Lead Hand, Supervisor, or Operations Trainer with significant operating experience in Power & Recovery or comparable kraft pulp mill operations.
• Strong practical knowledge of recovery boilers, power boilers, steam systems, turbines, recausticizing, lime kilns, utilities, and industrial process equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe operating practices and the ability to coach safe, disciplined work execution.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and coaching skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in practical operator-level language.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with DCS systems, process historians, electronic documentation, and training systems.
• Experience developing competency-based operator qualification programs.
