Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic Training Specialist to develop, deliver, and evaluate emergency response training programs tailored to client needs. This role includes creating engaging training materials, conducting sessions and drills, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining detailed records, and providing expert consultation. The specialist will also support business development efforts to enhance client preparedness and drive company objectives.
What You'll Do & How You'll Make an Impact
Program Development
- Design and develop comprehensive emergency response training programs tailored to various client needs and industries.
- Create training materials, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on exercises, ensuring they are current with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
Training Delivery
- Conduct engaging and effective training sessions for clients using various instructional techniques and formats.
- Facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions, adapting content as needed.
- Plan and execute emergency response drills and simulations, evaluate outcomes, and provide improvement recommendations.
- Travel to remote locations for in-person training as required.
Evaluation and Improvement
- Assess training effectiveness through feedback, evaluations, and performance metrics.
- Update training programs based on feedback, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
Compliance, Certification, and Documentation
- Ensure all training complies with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
- Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining necessary certifications and compliance.
- Maintain detailed records of training activities and outcomes.
- Prepare reports on training effectiveness for clients and management.
Collaboration and Business Development
- Coordinate with operational managers to align training with client requirements.
- Support marketing efforts by showcasing training capabilities.
- Develop proposals and presentations for potential clients.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Participate in professional development and industry conferences.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced training and experience in Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or related fields.
- Relevant certifications such as CEM, CSP, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in emergency response or safety training.
- Proven track record in developing and delivering diverse training programs.
- Valid certifications in emergency response or safety training are assets.
- First Aid / CPR certification preferred.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with at least three years of driving in Canada, a clean record, and ability to travel.
- Familiarity with the Incident Command System (ICS).
- Strong knowledge of emergency response procedures, standards, and regulations (e.g., BCER, OSHA, NFPA).
- Experience with adult learning principles and training methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and leadership.
- Proficiency with training software and the H2Safety Command Centre Software suite.
Bonus Experience
- ICS Level 100, 200, or 300 certifications.
- Experience developing LMS content or delivering adult education.
- Experience with emergency response planning, legislation, and industry-specific knowledge (e.g., oil and gas).
