Job summary

CPKC is seeking a Trainmaster in Red Deer, Alberta. You will coordinate daily yard-terminal and road operating plans, supervise train movements, and uphold safety, service, and efficiency across the terminal.

You will lead by example, coach Train & Engine staff, and ensure regulatory adherence under CROR/GCOR practices as applicable. A strong safety mindset and leadership presence are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous railway conductor experience is required; locomotive engineer qualification is an asset.
• Supervisory experience in logistics or operations is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand safety instructions and operating rules.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partners to improve yard and road fluidity to meet LOSP and OP.
• Oversee train movements within yard and mainline with safe, tactical execution.
• Be accountable for safety, service, productivity and financial metrics.
• Lead safety compliance and provide corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct investigations and support derailments/incidents when on duty.
• Manage terminal and line-of-road inventory; coach Train & Engine staff.
