Job summary

Canadian Pacific Railway (CPKC) seeks an Assistant Trainmaster in Kamloops to support the efficient movement of traffic within yard and road operations. You will develop, coordinate and ensure the daily operating plan is executed safely and cost-effectively, supervising personnel and coordinating across departments.

You will lead teams in safety, service, productivity and financial metrics, with occasional train operation and ongoing certification maintenance under CROR/GCOR rules.

Qualifications

• Asset: railway conductor or locomotive engineer qualification
• Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, and other written material in English
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead teams safely

Responsibilities

• Coordinate train movements within yard and mainline under supervision across departments
• Standardize processes related to operating plan, arrival, classification, building, inspecting and dispatching trains
• Provide leadership accountability for safety, service, productivity and financial metrics
• Lead operating employees with a focus on safety and rule compliance through observation and engagement
• Occasionally operate trains and maintain required certifications as per CROR/GCOR
• Assist in crew transportation to and from trains
