Job summary

CPKC is seeking an Assistant Trainmaster in Edmonton, Alberta. You will support efficient movement of traffic by developing and coordinating the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan, ensuring safety and cost effectiveness.

You will supervise train movements, lead crew, maintain certifications, and collaborate across departments, with opportunities for career advancement in a safety‑driven, North American rail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience or asset: railway conductor or locomotive engineer qualification.
• Strong communication and safety compliance skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all train movements within yard and mainline via supervision and cross‑department communication.
• Standardize processes for operating plans, arrival, classification, building, inspecting and dispatching trains.
• Provide safety and productivity leadership with performance metrics.
• Lead operating employees as a safety leader and drive preventative actions.
• Occasionally operate trains and maintain required certifications.
