Job summary

Environment, Conservation and Parks in Thunder Bay seeks a traffic engineer to provide leadership in operations and safety across provincial highways in the Northwestern Region. The role focuses on delivering high-quality traffic engineering services, corridor management and design input for complex projects.

You will consult with internal and external clients, apply ITS and signal systems knowledge, and lead multi-project efforts with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory: valid class G driver's licence or equivalent; proof provided upon hire.
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering theories, principles and practices related to traffic safety and operations.
  • Ability to interpret government policies, procedures and guidelines related to traffic engineering (e.g. Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Traffic Manuals).
  • Project management and leadership skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to ensure high quality traffic engineering services for provincial highways in Northwestern Region.
  • Provide expert technical consultation to internal and external clients on traffic engineering issues.
