Job summary

City of Kelowna's Infrastructure division seeks a Traffic Operations Engineer to provide professional traffic engineering support for road use permitting, traffic management, and related technical services.

The role involves reviewing Traffic Management Plans, coordinating with multiple City departments, and applying standards to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable movement through the transportation network while adhering to WorkSafeBC requirements and EGBC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Engineering Degree or equivalent with municipal/roadway experience.
• P.Eng designation with EGBC or equivalent required for position.
• Experience with traffic engineering, management, safety and capacity analysis.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve road use permit applications and traffic management plans.
• Coordinate with internal departments to manage impacts of permits and events.
• Review signage, pavement markings, and TMPs to ensure safety and compliance.
• Provide technical input on traffic signal operations and timing changes.
