Responsibilities

  • Deliver transportation and mobility projects, including coordinating internal work and consultants and providing updates to the manager.
  • Prepare conceptual and preliminary designs and conduct field inspections as required.
  • Coordinate, review, and manage consultant work to meet project requirements.
  • Review traffic and transportation modelling to support planning and development reviews.
  • Lead meetings with developers, citizens, and council; communicate technical issues clearly.

Delivery of transportation and mobility projects:

  • The candidate will be responsible for conducting project work internally or engaging consultants to complete assignments and providing timely updates to the manager on project status, issues, and changes.
  • The candidate will be responsible for completing conceptual and preliminary designs and conducting field inspections as required.
  • The candidate will be responsible for coordinating, reviewing, and managing consultant work to ensure project requirements are achieved.
  • The candidate will be responsible for reviewing traffic and transportation modelling to support project planning and development reviews.

Utilize transportation technical skills and experience to guide project processes and outcomes:

  • The candidate will be responsible for applying a range of engineering and design skills to develop well-supported recommendations for transportation issues while considering community impacts.
  • The candidate will be responsible for preparing and coordinating technical responses for the public, city departments, and external organizations.

To lead meetings with developers, citizens and council:

  • The candidate will be responsible for attending, organizing, and leading meetings and open houses with neighbourhood associations, business associations, developers, affected City departments, and community members.
  • The candidate will be responsible for identifying and applying appropriate strategies for a diverse range of projects and consultation environments.
  • The candidate will be responsible for compiling and evaluating consultation results, incorporating feedback into the project, and initiating follow-up actions as needed.
  • The candidate will be responsible for clearly communicating technical issues and recommendations to a diverse range of audiences.

Collaborate within the department, other departments and jurisdictions/stakeholders:

  • The candidate will be responsible for circulating information, documenting comments, and obtaining and providing feedback on reports and designs.
  • The candidate will be responsible for reviewing significant development impacts, including Transportation Impact Assessments (TIA), traffic modelling, and local transportation impacts, while considering transportation network performance and policy objectives, and providing feedback to other departments and consultants/developers.
  • The candidate will be responsible for providing technical advice to City Council and internal and external stakeholders.
Job Requirements
  • The candidate must hold an Engineering Degree with experience in consultation and transportation engineering within urban environments.
  • The candidate must have experience working with multi-modal transportation systems, traffic engineering, transportation design, safety analysis, and capacity analysis.
  • The candidate must demonstrate experience in project management and a strong understanding of municipal work processes.
  • The candidate should have experience in transportation modeling, which will be considered an asset.
  • The candidate must hold a P.Eng. designation from EGBC or another Canadian jurisdiction for this position.
  • The candidate must hold a A.P.L. Eng designation, or significant and relevant experience may be considered.
  • The candidate must demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and accountability for assigned duties and outcomes.
  • The candidate must maintain professional credibility.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong technical expertise relevant to the role and apply specialized knowledge effectively.
