Job summary

Discovery Kidd is seeking a Tractor Mechanic to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection and repair of tractor configurations at Kidd Operations. The role supports preventive, corrective, and reactive maintenance with a focus on reliability, while adhering to safety policies and procedures.

Ideal candidates have a Certificate of Qualification in Heavy Equipment or Automotive and at least 2 years of related experience, with the potential to gain exposure to other mining equipment and HD

Qualifications

• Certificate of Qualification in Heavy Equipment or Automotive.
• At least 2 years of related experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and fault-diagnosis abilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and safety minded.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection and repair of tractor configurations.
• Support preventive, corrective, and reactive maintenance with a focus on reliability.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment and processes.
• Record maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Opportunity to gain exposure to mining equipment and HD licensing.
• Role may support general shop maintenance activities.

The Position:

Reporting to the Safety & Emergency Response Superintendent, the Training Advisor’s primary objective is to support the training needs of Kidd Operations’ departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safe and efficient maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of a range of Tractor configurations;
• Supporting the operation in preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance work processes and providing feedback to optimize reliability;
• Adhering to and promoting all safety policies, procedures and systems;
• Identifying and recommending opportunities for improvement of area activities or problem equipment;
• Perform daily tasks using Computer Maintenance Management Systems;
• As priorities permit and on the aptitude of the tradesperson, exposure will be given to a range of mining equipment providing an opportunity to develop skills in support HD mechanic licensing;
• This role is considered a feeder position to fill general shop maintenance activities.

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Candidate will have:

• Certificate of Qualification in Heavy Equipment or Automotive;
• Preference to individuals with minimum two (2) years’ experience;
• A motivated attitude, strong aptitude for learning, a dynamic approach to getting tasks complete, and pride in accomplishment and craftsmanship;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision;
• Good interpersonal skills, strong communicator with the ability to collaborate well with peers, engineering, operators and management;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, locate, identify and diagnose malfunctions.
• Familiarity/experience with mining equipment such as Sandvik (loaders/trucks/drills), Atlas Copco/Epiroc (Jumbos), MacLean (bolters/scissor decks), and associated hydraulic/electrical/electronic/automation systems.
• Experience in an underground environment would be considered an asset.
