Job summary

Discovery Kidd is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team in the Kidd Operations. You will support the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in a mining setting, working under the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to ensure reliability and safety.

The role emphasizes troubleshooting, collaboration with engineering and management, and ongoing skills development, with a comprehensive benefits package and a defined contribution pension plan.

Qualifications

• Aspiring Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial (442A) or Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A).
• Strong troubleshooting, locating and diagnosing malfunctions.
• Good communication and collaboration with peers, engineering and management.
• Analytical mindset with continuous learning and improvement.
• Experience with power distribution systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safe installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems.
• Support preventive, corrective and reactive maintenance to improve plant reliability.
• Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Identify improvements for area activities or equipment.
• Use Computer Maintenance Management Systems for daily tasks.

The Position:

Reporting to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, the suitable candidates’ primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Safe and efficient installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of a range of industrial machinery, electrical systems, controls and ancillary equipment
• Supporting the operation in preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance work processes and providing feedback to optimize plant reliability
• Adhering to and promoting all safety policies and procedures
• Identifying and recommending opportunities for improvement of area activities or problem equipment
• Perform daily tasks using Computer Maintenance Management Systems

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Candidate will have:

• Aspiring Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial (442A) or Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A);
• A motivated attitude, a dynamic approach to getting tasks complete, and pride in accomplishment and craftsmanship
• Adept at troubleshooting, locating, identifying and diagnosing malfunctions
• Good interpersonal skills, communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with peers, engineering, and management
• Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills and interest in continuous learning and improvement
• Experience with power distribution systems would be a benefit
• Experience working in an underground environment is considered an asset.
