Job summary

Volker Stevin Contracting is seeking a Track Loader Operator in Calgary to safely operate a track loader for deep utilities within civil construction. You will backfill trenches, level soil, load trucks, and support other heavy equipment on active site while adhering to safety policies and project specs.

The role requires 2+ years’ underground utility construction and track loader experience, valid Ground Disturbance, and a clean driver’s abstract. Pre-employment testing applies.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in underground utility construction
  • 2+ years operating a track loader
  • 2+ years skid steer (ISO controls) experience may be considered
  • Valid Ground Disturbance certificate
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean abstract
  • Knowledge of underground utility installation, OH&S requirements
  • Physically capable of lifting at least 40lbs occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Backfill trenches, level soil, load trucks, haul aggregates, and move rock/debris
  • Operate track loader on active site with other heavy equipment
  • Perform pre-operational safety checks and routine maintenance
  • Follow supervisor instructions and maintain situational awareness

Reporting to the Foreman, the Track Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a track loader for d eep utilities (Civil Construction) . The operator will perform assigned duties to ensure that completed work meets contract specifications, adheres to company policies and procedures, and complies with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

How You’ll Add Value
  • Use the track loader to backfill trenches, level soil, load trucks, haul aggregates, and move rock/debris
  • Operate the track loader within an active site alongside other heavy equipment and ground personnel, maintaining awareness of surroundings
  • Operate a track loader and other heavy equipment safely and appropriately
  • Perform pre-operational/safety checks and conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of the equipment
  • Follow supervisor instructions regarding the required work area
  • Possess a strong understanding of ground disturbance
  • Operate other heavy equipment and perform construction-related duties as required
  • Have knowledge of underground utility construction materials, processes, and industry requirements
  • Understand computerized controls and electronics
  • Actively contribute to Volker Stevin Contracting safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in the underground utility construction industry
  • 2+ years of experience operating a track loader
  • 2+ years of skid steer (ISO controls) experience may be considered
  • Valid Ground Disturbance certificate
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • In-depth knowledge of underground utility installation, processes, materials, industry standards, and OH&S requirements
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying at least 40lbs on an occasional basis

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required
