Job summary

Volker Stevin in Grande Prairie, Canada, is seeking a Dozer Operator to join our site team. You will oversee safe, efficient earthworks and operate dozers to grade terrain while adhering to safety protocols on varied project sites.

Reporting to the Foreman, you will perform routine maintenance, support ground disturbance safety, and travel as needed to support short-term project requirements across Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience operating a dozer.
  • GPS knowledge is an asset.
  • Physically able to lift and carry 40 lbs regularly.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the dozer safely and efficiently on site.
  • Level soil, move rock and debris, and grade terrain.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
  • Follow supervisor directions and ensure proper gear and conditions.
  • Understand ground disturbance risks and safety practices.
  • Utilize controls to adjust blade height and angle and scarify soil.

Reporting to the Foreman, the Dozer Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the dozer on site. This role involves leveling and moving soil, rock, and debris, as well as ensuring proper grading and terrain shaping. The Dozer Operator must be able to control the machine with precision to meet site specifications while maintaining a strong focus on safety and productivity.

How You’ll Add Value
  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Operate the dozer and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
  • Use the dozer to level soil, move rock and debris, and scoop soil
  • Drive dozer in successive passes to raise or lower terrain to specified grade using markings or hand signals
  • Operate dozer controls to regulate blade height and angle, and scarify to loosen packed soil
  • Understand, interpret, and follow directions from supervisors regarding work areas and tasks
  • Ensure the dozer is in proper gear and suited for working conditions
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of ground disturbance and related safety issues
  • Understanding of computerized controls and electronics
  • Feel levers and listen to equipment sounds to determine depth of cut
What You Bring
  • 2+years’ experience operating a dozer
  • GPS Knowledge is an asset
  • Physically able to safely lift and carry40lbsregularly
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.
