Job summary

Volker Stevin is seeking an Underground Laborer in Grande Prairie, Canada. Reporting to the Foreman, you will provide hands-on labor support across construction phases, from shoveling to basic equipment operation, while prioritizing safety and teamwork.

You will load and move materials, perform site prep, and assist with daily maintenance and safety checks. The role may require out-of-town travel and is ideal for candidates with 1+ years of labouring in heavy civil construction and a valid Class

Qualifications

• 1+ years of labouring experience in heavy civil construction.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean abstract (no major infractions).
• Physically able to lift and carry 40 lbs regularly.
• Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods.

Responsibilities

• Support site operations including hand work, moving materials, clearing terrain, and site preparation.
• Shovel and perform basic equipment tasks; operate equipment as needed under supervision.
• Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite.
• Perform daily equipment maintenance and safety checks.
• Signal equipment operators to coordinate material movements.

Reporting to the Foreman, reporting to the Foreman, an Underground Laborer is responsible for providing a physical labor support during all phases of construction. An Underground Laborer provides a broad range of support in areas, such as, hand work, moving materials, clearing terrain, site preparation, shoveling and basic equipment operation

How You’ll Add Value

• Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
• Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite
• Manually remove large rocks and debris turned up by heavy equipment, ensuring all revealed rocks and debris are clear
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Load, unload and move construction materials around the worksite

What You Bring

• 1+ years of labouring experience in the heavy civil construction
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
• Physically able to safely lift and carry40lbs regularly
• Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed

Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.
