Job summary

Hydra Dyne Technology Inc. is seeking a Tooling Specialist to manage new and existing tooling, support CNC machining processes, and strengthen our tooling and fixture management system.

The role involves tooling inspections, setup planning, and coordinating with vendors to identify improvements. A background in CNC environments and SolidWorks CAD skills are preferred, with emphasis on precision and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year in a CNC machining environment or quality support role.
  • Post-secondary education in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or technology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming inspections on tools and before reuse on machines.
  • Set up tooling builds to meet production needs and present tools to CNC centres.
  • Manage changes, repairs and improvements to tooling and fixtures.
  • Develop, implement and maintain tooling documentation and tracking system.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts in tooling and fixturing.
  • Liaise with tooling vendors to explore new tooling technologies.
  • Verify tool narratives are complete when tools are returned from jobs.
  • Provide gauges to storage locations and manage fixtures for scheduled jobs.

Purpose of Job:
  • As the Tooling Specialist you will be responsible for managing new and existing tooling to support the operational effectiveness of the manufacturing and machining processes.
  • The secondary goal of this position is to develop and strengthen the tooling and fixture management process Hydra Dyne Technology.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Perform incoming inspections on tools and inspections prior to tools being reused on machines
  • Set up tooling builds as required to meet production requirements by proactively selecting, verifying and presenting of tools to CNC machining centres in advance of planned setups.
  • Manage changes, repairs and improvements to existing tooling and fixtures.
  • Develop, implement and maintain tooling documentation and tracking system in support of HDT requirements.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement efforts in tooling and fixturing.
  • Liaise with tooling vendors to investigate and propose new tooling technologies and/or practices as applicable.
  • Verify that tooling and fixture Narratives are complete and updated when putting tools away from completed jobs.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
  • Provide and manage gauges to appropriate storage locations
  • Manage fixtures for scheduled jobs
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
  • All required PPE while in plant.
  • Work safe & ergonomically by following JH&S policies.
  • Enforce and promote workplace safety.
  • Report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents across the plant.
  • Identifies personal safety compliance or non-compliance by observing employees' use of protective equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Education:
  • Minimum of one (1) year in a CNC machining environment or quality support role.
  • An appropriate Post-Secondary education in an Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing) or appropriate Technology program.
  • Basic level modelling skills in SolidWorks or similar parametric modelling software.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings,geometric dimensioning and tolerance interpretation and manufacturing processes.
  • Teamwork and dedication to owning this role.
  • Comfortable using iPads, custom applications and other current technologies.
  • Planning and prioritising activities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present data effectively
  • Good analytical and Problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to deal with all levels of staff in a tactful and persuasive manner.
  • An analytical and investigative approach.
