Job summary

Martinrea is a leading automotive supplier focused on welding and quality assurance. This role ensures Martinrea and customer welding requirements are met by providing input to resolve welding concerns and support production quality.

The candidate should have welding metallurgy knowledge, 3–4 years in similar roles, and strong English communication skills, with flexibility for shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral.
• Post secondary education—Welding Tech course from a community college.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in a similar role.
• Sound understanding of welding metallurgy.
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be willing to work shifts and be flexible (including overtime on short notice).
• Ability to work well with fellow team members.

Responsibilities

• Resolve all welding concerns with quality, safety and efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
• Support buy off's when required.
• Establish, maintain and implement welding parameters to support production and Quality assurance.
• Maintain a sound understanding of customers product and engineering specifications.
• Participate in problem solving activities.
• Provide support to all Departments for weld related issues.

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring Martinrea and customer quality requirements are met by identifying and providing input to resolve welding concerns.

Critical Success Factors

• Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act

• 100% plant floor (PPE required)

Employee Relations

• Communicate effectively with employees and management staff as required
• Perform compulsory overtime as necessary and in accordance with legislative requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor
• Comply, ensure and enforce Rules of Conduct (Sign off agreement) in your hire package
• Provide and/or participate in training as required
• Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook
• Comply with the Employee Standards Act, 2000

Effort/Physical Demands

• Communication with employees, peers and management
• Overtime as required

Health and Safety Responsibilities

• Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) particularly the "Duties of Workers" as stated in section 28
• Must comply with Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures according to Martinrea Employee Handbook
• Must use/wear equipment, personal protective equipment or certain clothing as required by the company
• Comply with Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)
• Comply with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
• Always beware of moving lift trucks
• All employees are prohibited from working under dies which are suspended from hoists, cranes or forklifts

Quality Assurance

• Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment and/or tools immediately to your supervisor
• Record and/or report product damage/nonconformities to your supervisor as required
• Comply with Quality Assurance policies and procedures
• Participate and contribute to effective production efficiency
