Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory is seeking a permanent full-time Thrift Store Associate at the Toronto - Bloor area. You will provide courteous customer and donor service, sort donations, stock shelves, and support the ongoing retail operations of the thrift store to advance the organization’s mission.

You will handle sales transactions, maintain store presentation, and follow safety procedures while working a schedule that may include weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of some High School.
• Up to 3 months of related experience.
• An alternative level or combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
• Willingness to develop understanding and support for The Salvation Army mission.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous and efficient customer and donor service, addressing inquiries in person and by phone, and promoting sales through product knowledge and upselling techniques.
• Maintain merchandise flow by replenishing stock, assisting with inventory control, and preparing unsold items for recycling.
• Support store presentation through visual merchandising, display setup, and regular upkeep of a clean and organized sales floor.
• Follow established opening, closing, and security procedures, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of the store.
• Accurately process sales transactions using cash, debit, and credit, while adhering to policies on refunds, voids, and item holds.
• Receive and sort donations, ensuring proper handling, pricing and storage in line with quality and safety standards as directed.
• Represent the organization in a respectful and professional manner, reflecting the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
• Other related duties as assigned.
