Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient facility manager for our new thermal bathing spa facility. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position will oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of the plant and systems supporting this state-of-the-art facility. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless functioning of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, thermal pools, heating and cooling systems, water treatment plants, and other technical components, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, guest satisfaction and taking into account the provincial and federal regulations to maintain the wellness facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plant Operations & Maintenance:
    • Oversee the daily operation of mechanical and thermal systems, including but not limited to boilers, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, water filtration units, and pumps.
    • Monitor and maintain system performance to ensure optimal efficiency and functionality.
    • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance schedules.
  2. Technical Oversight:
    • Supervise and troubleshoot technical issues across the facility, including pool systems, saunas, steam rooms, and specialized wellness equipment.
    • Ensure compliance with operational guidelines, safety regulations, and industry standards.
    • Coordinate with external vendors for system upgrades, repairs, and installations as required.
  3. Water Quality Management:
    • Manage water treatment systems to maintain high-quality water standards in thermal pools, spas, and other wellness areas.
    • Perform regular testing of water quality and adjust chemical dosing systems as necessary.
  4. Energy Efficiency & Sustainability:
    • Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainable practices to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint.
    • Monitor energy consumption and optimize system performance to minimize waste and operational costs.
  5. Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of technical staff, assigning tasks, providing training, and conducting performance reviews.
    • Foster a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment.
  6. Emergency Preparedness:
    • Develop and implement emergency protocols for system failures or technical issues.
    • Ensure backup systems are operational and ready for activation during unforeseen circumstances.
  7. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections.
    • Prepare regular reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and energy usage for management review.

Qualifications

  • Class 4 power Engineering, Certified Pool Operator Level I & II. Trade ticket will be an asset
  • Certification in pool operation or water quality management must.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in managing technical operations in wellness, hospitality, or similar industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, water treatment processes, and thermal facility equipment.
  • Strong understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in the use of maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with local and international safety standards and compliance regulations.
