Job summary

Monarch House is hiring a part-time Therapy Assistant to implement ABA, SLP, and OT interventions for children with autism and developmental delays. You will work in a clinic-based Oakville setting with a BCBA, SLP, and OT oversight, contributing to engaging client experiences.

The role requires 1 year of relevant experience, a degree pursuing in these fields, and a valid security clearance. Flexible hours include evenings and some Saturdays, with opportunities for growth within Monarch House.

Qualifications

  • Degree in ABA/SLP/OT or pursuing education
  • At least 1 year experience implementing ABA, SLPA, or OTA treatments with children with autism and other developmental disabilities
  • Experience with ethical and professional practice
  • Ability to work with children/youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Implement treatment plans based on best practices.
  • Apply ABA/SLP/OT strategies to teach and reinforce skills in 1:1 or small group settings.
  • Assist in collecting baseline measurements and other indirect measures as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Understand behavior functions and respond safely to situations.
  • Adapt to changing conditions and provide creative solutions.
  • Track client progress by collecting data and graphing.
  • Complete incident reports in Microsoft Teams within 24 hours when required.
  • Attend regular team meetings to review progress and problem-solve.
  • Provide organized, professional updates to caregivers and team members.

Job description

The Therapy Assistant (TA) is primarily responsible for implementing Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech Language Pathology, and Occupational Therapy interventions for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder or other learning and development delays and/or maladaptive behaviour. The role of the TA is to execute intervention plans developed and supervised by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® BCBA), Speech Language Pathologist, and/or Occupational Therapist to clients in care of Monarch House. The TA will work within an interdisciplinary team to support skill acquisition and/or decrease maladaptive behaviors while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment. The TA is primarily responsible for implementing interdisciplinary treatment to clients across Monarch House.

Job Type: Part-time.
Job setting: Clinic-based in Oakville
Wage - $23-25/hr
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:45AM - 7PM EST

  • Saturdays and 3-4 evenings are required
  • May not be scheduled for all of the above availability but must be available for caseload building
Take an inside look at what you will do each day:
  • Responsible for implementing treatment plans based on best practices.
  • Uses systematic methods and behavioural strategies to support client in changing their behaviour. Contributes to the development of ABA / SLP / OT programs established by the BCBA / SLP / OT to teach and reinforce a variety of skills for children and youth in a 1:1and/or small group setting.
  • Assists in conducting baseline measurements and other indirect measures as instructed by the Lead Therapist/ BCaBA/BCBA / SLP / OT
  • Understand the functions of behavior and responds appropriately and safely when situations arise.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and/or routine and provide creative solutions. Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client.
  • Responsible for tracking client progress through the collection of data and graphing while keeping clients engaged.
  • Responsible to complete incident report in Microsoft Teams as per regional requirements within 24 hours of an incident.
  • Attend regular client-centered team meetings to review client progress, problem solve, and inform of potential changes.
  • Provide communication updates regarding unusual or different behavior in an organized, professional, positive, and respectful manner to caregivers and BCBA / SLP / OT
Here is what you will need to be successful:
  • Completed degree in ABA/SLP/OT or a related field or pursuing education in these fields
  • At least 1 year experience implementing ABA, SLPA, or OTA treatments with children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • Education and demonstrated ability in ethical and professional practice.
  • Experience working with children and youth with complex needs and/or developmental disabilities will be considered an asset.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Experience working with clients who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental disabilities.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
