Job summary

Monarch House is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to implement interventions for children and youth with autism and developmental delays. You will work under a Registered Occupational Therapist, in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary setting with a strong client-centered approach.

The position is part-time, hourly, with a schedule that includes weekday evenings and weekends. Travel to homes and community settings is required, and a valid driver’s license is necessary to transport materials

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of OTA experience.
  • Post-secondary coursework in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current Standard CPR and First Aid Certificate.
  • Willingness to travel for in-home/community sessions; weekend availability.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with family, client, and supervisor on session progress.
  • Implement treatment plans based on best practices.
  • Prepare teaching materials and organize teaching environment.
  • Create a positive and engaging environment for the client.
  • Maintain client well-being and safety while in care.
  • Track client progress through data collection and graphing.
  • Assist with personal care tasks as needed.

Job description

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) at Monarch House your primary responsibility is implementing interventions for children and youth with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental delays and/or motor delays. Your role of Occupational Therapy Assistant is to execute intervention plans developed and supervised by a Registered Occupational Therapist to clients in care of Monarch House. The Assistant will work within an interdisciplinary team while providing an engaging and positive client experience in a fast paced and frequently changing environment.

Please note that we do not offer LMIA or independent contractor setup

Employment setup: Part-time. Hourly.

Salary: $23-24/hr

Job setting: Clinic-based and community-based

Work schedule: Monday - Tuesday, between 4PM - 7PM Thursday - Saturday, between 9AM - 7PM

  • Communication with family/client and supervisor on session progress
  • Implementation of treatment plans based on best practices.
  • Prepares teaching materials and organizes teaching environment
  • Responsible for creating a positive and engaging environment for the client
  • Responsible for maintaining the well-being and safety of the client while under their care
  • Responsible to track client progress through the collection of data and graphing while keeping clients engaged
  • Support clients with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and eating
Here is what you will need to be successful
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working as an OTA
  • Post-secondary course work in Occupational Therapy
  • Current Standard CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Currently hiring to build capacity for intake inquiries (i.e., slow schedule build)
  • Experience delivering services in home and community
  • Car or ability to travel into homes or community for sessions
  • Willingness to travel for in-home/community sessions, including availability on weekends as needed.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for daily use
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
