Job summary

Monarch House is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support children aged 2–18 with ASD in a community-based Calgary setting. You will assess needs, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with families and ABA teams to enable participation in daily activities.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, data collection, and supervising OT students, with opportunities for professional growth and cross-centre collaboration across Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children with ASD.
  • Master’s degree in OT from an accredited program.
  • Familiarity with standardized assessments and clinical tools.
  • Active membership in ACOT and CAOT is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess client needs and family priorities within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Conduct assessments using standardized tests and checklists.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Prepare and maintain client reports.
  • Collaborate with Behaviour Analysts and families in ASD programs.
  • Supervise OT students and contribute to centre policies.

As an Occupational Therapist (OT) on our team you are responsible for developing programs that enable individuals to participate, to their fullest level, in activities that occupy their daily lives. Your client-base will consist of children (age 2-18) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Job Types: Community-based in Calgary

Salary: $72,500.00-$102,000.00 per year

Schedule
Take an inside look at what you will do each day:
  • Assess client needs and family priorities as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Complete assessments using tools such as standardized tests, criterion or curriculum referenced materials, or checklists
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan for each client, based on assessment results
  • Develop reports as required
  • Consult to Behaviour Analysts who supervise Applied Behaviour Analysis Programs for Children with ASD and other needs
  • Work collaboratively with the family and other community professionals
  • Maintain knowledge in current evidence-based practices
  • Collect data and make evidence-based decisions in treatment
  • Supervise students pursuing education in Occupational Therapy
  • Represent OT department in Monarch House by contributing to clinical policies and procedures and other centre-wide visions
Here is what you will need to be successful:
  • At least 1 years’ experience working with children with ASD
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapist (OT)
  • Experience and familiarity with assessment tools (standardized tests, etc.)
  • Knowledge of current research and literature in the Occupational Therapist (OT) field
  • Member of ACOT & CAOT
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Flexibility in scheduling clients
