Job summary

AgeCare Ltd. is seeking an Occupational Therapy Aide (Casual, Part-time) in Calgary’s McKenzie Towne area. The role supports the Occupational Therapist, helps with wheelchair and equipment repairs, and assists with therapy participation and data collection for residents in long-term care.

The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education, be fluent in English, and bring strong communication and a compassionate approach to elder care.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education is an asset.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with diverse populations.
• Prior experience in continuing care/gerontology preferred.
• Advocating for the role of occupational therapy to improve residents’ lives.
• Willingness to provide a high level of client service to all demographics.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to the Occupational Therapist.
• Monitors resident ability to participate in therapy.
• Prepares and maintains equipment inventory and assists with maintenance programs.
• Provides repairs or modifications to resident equipment as needed.
• Maintains infection control practices in treatment areas.
• Distributes equipment as needed and participates in information sharing.
• Collects and manages data in the computer system.
