Shannex Incorporated in Bedford, Nova Scotia, invites applications for a Recreation Therapist to join the DePaul Hall Enhanced Care team. You will plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs addressing residents' physical, social, cultural, emotional, and intellectual needs.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, developing individual treatment plans, documenting progress, and adapting services to changing health status.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Certification or eligibility to be certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (NCTRC).
• Member of the Nova Scotia Therapeutic Recreation Association.
• Basics Food Safety Training / Food Handlers Course.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program addressing residents' physical, social, cultural, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs.
• Assess referrals and develop individual treatment plans based on assessments.
• Collaborate with the site Recreation Programmer to provide programs in group and one-to-one settings.
• Modify services to support changing health status or challenging behaviours.
• Document progress evaluations, admissions and other required reports.
• Create transition plans for residents moving from Acute Care or Long-Term Care settings.

Education

Undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation

CTRS certification or eligibility (NCTRC)

Member of Nova Scotia Therapeutic Recreation Association
