Job summary

Dometic Vancouver seeks a Test Engineer to join the marine division, focusing on electromechanical test methods, sensor integration, and data analysis from concept to production. You will support V&V plans and drive reliable testing practices on innovative hydraulic and electronic products.

The role requires hands-on test method development, data acquisition, and collaboration with product launch teams in a dynamic, global environment.

Qualifications

  • University or Institute qualifications in Electro-Mechanical Engineering (A relevant combination of education and experience may also be considered.)
  • 4 years in an R&D environment in test or design capacities
  • Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Professional demeanor whether in person, via email, or on the telephone.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a strong team.
  • Must have real world experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and a respect for difference.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong statistical and mathematical analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design & implement improvements to product testing (equipment, processes, methods, analysis).
  • Develop new product performance specifications and test methods.
  • Develop and run V&V programs based on product DFMEA, industry standards, customer and internal requirements.
  • Perform, selection, installation, and integration of sensors (pressure, force, strain gauges, displacement, etc.).
  • Prepare and calibrate data acquisition equipment.
  • Collect and correlate field data to lab tests and lab test data.
  • Monitor and record multiple tests simultaneously.
  • Prepare reports on the status of tests and analysis of results to the new product launch teams. Ensure data is trustworthy.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis on tested units and test equipment.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of multi-variable experiments.
  • Complete additional job duties and assignments up to 15% of the time.

  • Pay or shift range: $92,000 CAD to $110,000 CAD

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Test Engineer. This position reports to Test Engineering Manager and will work in Vancouver, BC.

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Test Engineer of the Vancouver team, you will be working in cross functional teams to develop and support electromechanical and hydraulic products that lead the recreational marine industry. You will be involved in the complete development cycle from concept to production. This position takes a hands‑on approach to design and implement effective test methods and equipment, create reliable measurement systems, and perform test data and root-cause analysis.

General Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable of governing standards regarding test procedures and equipment for ASTM, SAE, ISO and ABYC.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various materials and secondary coatings.
  • Familiar with volume production processes including casting, extrusions, powder metal, injection molding, precision machining sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Develop comprehensive verification and validation plans for new product development.
  • Implement effective and efficient test methods to verify and validate plans to ensure the test program is performed relative to the product launch schedule.
  • Perform failure analysis and explain conclusions and recommendations to the Product Designers.
  • Write thorough test reports, including complete data analysis.
