Job summary

Dometic Vancouver is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the manufacturing team and drive efficient, on-time production of high-quality parts. You will oversee assembly production activities, coordinate staffing, and deliver cost reductions while ensuring safety and a positive work environment.

You will promote continuous improvement, coach supervisors, and collaborate with other functions to support new product introductions and process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Operations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a manager with non-technical and technical reports.
  • Experience with Lean methods and implementation.
  • Strong MS Office proficiency and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production is safe, efficient, and on time while producing quality parts.
  • Review capacity and staffing levels from demand data to meet parts on time at low cost.
  • Identify continuous improvement areas including labour, cycle times, scrap and costs.
  • Support new product development.
  • Oversee production supervisors; coach and mentor staff to higher performance.

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Operations Manager. This position reports to Director of Operations and will work in Vancouver, BC.

Vancouver:

Dometic Marine’s headquarters are in Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The facility develops and manufactures hydraulic, electronic, and combustion-based products.

As Operations Manager of the Vancouver team, you will be overseeing the tactical activities of assembly production within the facility. Responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of quality products on time, at the lowest cost, while maintaining a safe and positive work environment. Promote continuous improvement while meeting established annual improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and direct and indirect costs. Provide strong leadership through appropriate and timely feedback, coaching and mentoring all levels of production employees.

General Responsibilities
  • Ensure production is done safely, efficiently, and timely, while producing quality parts.
  • Use part and product demand information from materials and customer orders to review capacity and staffing levels; determine and implement solutions and schedules to produce required parts on time and at a low cost.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement, including labour, process cycle times, utilization, scrap and maintenance costs.
  • Support new product development.
  • Oversee production supervisors; coach, guide, and mentor direct reports to achieve higher performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.

Skills & Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will bring demonstrated success in engineering environment. Additionally, they will have acquired the following qualifications and experiences:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Operations or a suitable combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum 3 years of experience as a manager with non-technical and technical reports.
  • Experience with Lean methods and implementation.
  • Experience with Lean philosophy, methods, systems and tools, and implementation.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint; and, the ability to learn other applications quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving and decision making abilities.

The salary for this position ranges from $90,000 CAD to $115,000 CAD per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
