Job summary

Dometic Marine is seeking an Electronics Test Technician in Richmond, BC to focus on product verification, validation, launch and support for Marine charging systems and battery integration. You will troubleshoot at component level and execute detailed test plans applying hardware and software solutions.

The role requires experience in testing electronics, PCB rework, and interfacing with CAN/SPI/I2C/RS232; a formal degree in Electrical/Computing or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• University or Technical Institute qualifications in Electrical, Computer, Electro-Mechanical, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 2+ years of industry or relevant electronic testing and design experience; candidates with 5+ years preferred.
• Consumer electronic product test experience related to automotive, boating and/or safety critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and testing to support product development, production, and field service.
• Participate and support root cause analysis of components in development or production.
• Rigorously document test processes and results, develop best practices and procedures.
• Perform rework of prototype PCBAs to support testing and development.
• Conduct design validation tests (environmental, EMC, HASS / HALT, etc.).
• Work in multi-function new product development teams, including program/product management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management and production.
• Interact with customers and suppliers and represent Dometic Marine.
• Support production by troubleshooting and repairing test equipment as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

About the position

As Electronics Test Technician of the MPS team, you will be involved in focusing on performing product design verification, validation, launch and support of products and components focused on Marine AC / DC charging systems, lithium-ion battery integration, connectivity, and mobile power solutions for inboard and outboard leisure craft. From troubleshooting issues at the component level to executing detailed test plans, the Test Technician applies hardware and software solutions to meet testing requirements and functional targets.

Your main responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and testing to support product development, production, and field service.
• Participate and support root cause analysis of components in development or in production.
• Rigorously document test processes and results, develop best practices and procedures.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and test engineering as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• University or Technical Institute qualifications in Electrical, Computer, Electro-Mechanical, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 2+ years of industry or relevant electronic testing and design experience; candidates with 5+ years are preferred
• Consumer electronic product test experience, ideally related to automotive, boating and/or safety critical systems
• Experienced with PCB rework and testing processes, including precision soldering
• Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I2C, or RS232
• Experience with testing EMC related issues during the certification testing of a product
• Knowledge of industry standards such as SAE, ASTM, ISO, and ISO9001
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Bonus qualifications and experience:

• Familiar with lithium batteries and battery management
• Familiar with power inverters and chargers including AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion
• Familiar with alternators, generators, or motors

Pay Range is between $29 and $36 CAD per hour
