Job summary

Northland School Division invites applications for a Temporary Vice Principal at Father R. Perin School in Janvier, Alberta. This rural K–9 campus emphasises Indigenous language and culture, with strong ties to the community and school council.

You will work to create an inviting school environment and foster partnerships that enhance student opportunities. The role requires a Master's degree, Alberta teaching certification, and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate, plus at least five years

Qualifications

Northland School Division is now inviting applications for the role of Temporary Vice Principal at Father R. Perin School. The kindergarten to grade 9 school is located in the community of Janvier, Alberta. Janvier is situated approximately 120 kilometers from Fort McMurray, Alberta. Major Responsibilities include:

• A passion for promoting educational success for Indigenous learners, especially in their language and culture. Fluency in language and experience in the culture would be an asset.
• Will work closely with the school council and the community to build relationships in order to create a positive, inviting school environment that is integrated into the life of the community.
• Will actively seek local partnerships to create innovative program opportunities to engage and challenge students and promote a sense of pride and accomplishment.
• Is a strong instructional leader who will work with staff to ensure that students have high quality learning experiences.
• Leads by example and is active in the life of the community.

Qualifications and Requirements include:

• Must hold or qualify for Alberta teaching certification and a Leadership Quality Standard certificate.
• Must hold a Master's degree or willingness to complete a Master's degree within a mutually agreed upon timeline.
• Has a minimum of 5 successful years of teaching experience in rural and/or Indigenous communities.
