Job summary

Extendicare Mapleview Home in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario is seeking a Part-time Resident Program Aide to provide engaging activities that enhance residents’ quality of life while maintaining a safe, supportive environment. You will join a compassionate recreation team delivering meaningful programming.

Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, setting up spaces, transporting residents, documenting progress, and collaborating with nursing staff.

Qualifications

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, gerontology registered ECE, or Social Service Worker required.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one/group program planning, implementation and evaluation for both well and the cognitively impaired.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in care planning and resident assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate new ideas, resident programs and volunteer initiatives.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in working with the geriatric population especially those with cognitive
