Job summary

Extendicare Oshawa is seeking a casual/part-time Resident Programs Aide with a Recreation and Leisure Services or Gerontology credential. You will plan and lead activation activities, transport residents, and monitor well-being under supervision, while keeping detailed records and coordinating with nursing staff.

The role emphasizes compassionate care for seniors, with opportunities for mentorship, growth within the organization, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services /Gerontology Diploma or Degree program required.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-on-one/group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation, and evaluation for geriatric population, especially those cognitively impaired.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, evaluate, develop, and revise both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs under the guidance of the Supervisor.
  • Set up and clean activity area as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate participation by residents to registered staff.

This position is for ourExtendicare Oshawa, located at 82 Park Road North.

PRIOR TO INTERVIEW APPLICANT MUST PROVIDE VALID (WITHIN SIX MONTHS) VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK (VSC).

What you'll be doing:
