Job summary

The County of Elgin is seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker for Terrace Lodge to provide compassionate daily care in a 100-bed long-term care setting. You will assist with personal care, meals, and daily living activities while supporting safety and dignity for residents.

Applicants must hold a PSW certificate and be willing to pursue ongoing training. Registration with HSCPOA is preferred, with competitive compensation and benefits under the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Willingness to pursue further training/education in the PSW field through in-services, etc.
• Proof of registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Familiarity with Health & Safety Procedures, Resident Bill of Rights, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Point Click Care.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, and transfers.
• Assist with meals and nutrition support.
• Tidy resident rooms and common areas.
• Perform minor treatments and report health observations.
• Respond to call bells with attentiveness and empathy.
• Participate in care planning through daily reports.
• Support inclusive, respectful, and equitable care delivery.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Position Title: Personal Support Worker (PSW)

Type: Part-time, Temporary

Compensation: $30.87 - $31.30/hour as per collective agreement

Terrace Lodge is a 100-bed long-term care home in the Township of Malahide. Our home is situated in beautiful Elgin County and features private and semi-private accommodation with 24-hour nursing care. Outdoor areas to relax with family, as well as living and dining areas, are available for resident enjoyment. A host of entertainment and recreational programs, animal-assisted therapy, spiritual care, and exercise programming are available.

About the Role

As a certified Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our residents’ daily lives. You’ll be joining a dedicated care team that works collaboratively to support dignity, safety, and overall well-being through established job routines.

Your responsibilities include:

• Providing personal care such as bathing, dressing, and transfers
• Assisting with meals and nutrition support
• Tidying resident rooms and common areas
• Performing minor treatments and reporting health observations
• Responding to call bells with attentiveness and empathy
• Participating in care planning through daily reports

Conditions of Employment
