Job summary

Sea to Sky School District No. 48 is seeking a Custodian for Howe Sound Secondary School on a temporary basis through December 18, 2026, or until the incumbent returns.

Responsibilities include general cleaning, operation of motorized cleaning equipment, basic floor care, and maintaining building security. A Grade 10 education with related courses and up to three months of related experience is required, with WHMIS and safety regulations knowledge.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to 3 months related experience.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Worksafe BC safety regulations.
• Building Service Worker course is relevant training.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of schools as assigned, including basic upkeep and safety.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment as required.
• Knowledge of floor coatings and building security.

Job description

The following temporary position is open for applications:

CUSTODIAN

Location: District - South

Howe Sound Secondary School

Temporary: Immediately to December 18, 2026 , or return of Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 8 hours per day, 1 2 months per year

Pay: $30.47 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

General cleaning of schools as assigned by the General Manager of Operations, which includes lifting of miscellaneous furniture, changing lights, operation of motorized cleaning equipment, knowledge of chemicals and application of floor coatings and attention to building security.

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to and including three (3) months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Relevant courses/workshops would be the Building Service Worker course. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Worksafe BC safety regulations.
