Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a hands-on Telecoms Fiber Optic Specialist to join our client’s technical team in Kimberley, Canada. You will install, test, maintain, and repair fiber optic networks that deliver high-speed broadband and communications services for regional clients.

You will work closely with installation crews and network engineers, interpreting diagrams and test results, performing splicing, and ensuring optimal network performance through proactive maintenance and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Fiber Optic Technician or Specialist in telecoms.
• Proficient in fusion and mechanical fiber splicing and termination.
• Experience with fiber testing equipment and interpreting results.
• Ability to read network diagrams and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables per standards.
• Test and analyze fiber optic networks with OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
• Diagnose and resolve faults to minimize service disruption.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain records of installations, tests and repairs.
• Assist in planning and design of new fiber deployments.

Key Responsibilities
