Job summary

RFNOW Inc. is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as a Fiber Splicing Technician. You will splice and test fiber optic cables, analyze results, and troubleshoot faults while interpreting work plans.

The role requires travel to multiple sites and occasional overtime to meet delivery deadlines. Experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer is an asset, with training available for the right candidate; a valid driver’s license and ability to travel are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Experience with fiber splicing is an asset; training will be provided.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites.
• Willingness to perform OTDR testing and fiber testing as required.

Responsibilities

• Splice and test fiber optic cables in inside/outside plant applications, buried and underground.
• Analyze test results and troubleshoot faults or defects.
• Interpret placement and splicing work plans and ensure they are followed.
• Work independently or with the team to meet client delivery dates; overtime may be required.
• Travel to various sites; operate in all weather conditions.

Job description

RFNOW Inc. is seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our team as aFiber Splicing Technician. The successful candidates will be involved in our day-to-day operations including the preparation and installation of fibre internet infrastructure maintaining, repairing, connecting separate fiber runs.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Splice and test fiber optic cables in all inside/outside plant applications – buried and underground; both on newly placed cable and existing cables
• Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects
• Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans
• This position requires that the individual be motivated and self-disciplined, able to work on their own or closely with other team members to optimize efficiency to ensure that the client’s due date(s) are met
• Experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer is an asset but will train right candidate
• Ability to interpret placing and splicing plans
• Competency in OTDR and other testing protocol an asset
• Must have a valid Drivers’ License - will require drivers abstract
• Ability to travel to various work sites as workload dictates
• Overtime required in applicable situations in order to meet customer delivery commitments; this could include some night and weekend work
• Work in all weather conditions

This role will give you the opportunity to work out of your home community. You will be provided with a company vehicle and will be assigned work at various locations throughout the region as required.
