As a Telecommunications Equipment Technician within the Telecommunications and Network Infrastructure Unit, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, purchasing, inventory management and technical support of telecommunications equipment for the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Specific duties include:

  • Install, program, and repair telecommunication equipment service wide including P25 radios and cellphones.
  • Purchase and distribute telecommunications equipment, replacement parts and accessories.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and replacement parts to ensure an adequate supply of surplus of parts.
  • Provide technical support regarding telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Ensure invoices for equipment, repairs, or purchases are paid in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • A diploma equivalent to 2 years of full-time study in a related field such as Electronics or Telecommunications, and a minimum of 3 years related experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.
  • MS Windows 7/10/11 and Android/iOS operating system software experience is required.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, and providing technical support for P25 trunked radios is required.
  • Previous experience in a police or judicial related environment would be an asset.
  • Success in this role requires: coaching and development, communication, efficiency and thoroughness, planning and prioritizing, relationship building, and service orientation.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 8 $37.77 - 50.50 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
