Responsibilities
Tasks
- Conduct liquid penetrant inspection
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect defects
- Interpret and document liquid penetrant inspection
- Interpret cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts
- Interpret conductivity meters and visual indicators
- Interpret radiographs
- Prepare surface for liquid penetrant inspection
- Use electromagnetic eddy current testing methods
- Establish NDI techniques and calibration standards
- Set up and operate radiographic equipment
- Develop and interpret radiographic film
- Calibrate, test and interpret ultrasonic equipment
- Set up, calibrate, operate and interpret magnetic particle, eddy current, liquid penetrant, acoustic emission, and infrared thermographic equipment
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
- Instruct and supervise trainees
- Maintain test result reports
