Purpose of the Position

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Drafter provides pipeline layout information for construction projects with high accuracy, ensuring design criteria are followed and well documented.

Status of the Position

This is a temporary full-time role for 6 months, working Monday to Friday. Duration depends on project needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete design drawings, quantity calculations, and as-built drawings using software like AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam Revu, and others.
  • Interpret field survey data and coordinate with survey crews.
  • Assist with calculations and workflows for field staff.
  • Prepare 3D models for GPS and Machine Control applications.
  • Develop engineering and survey plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Read and generate RFIs, maintain records.
  • Define work scope and provide layout info during construction.
  • Calculate volumes and maintain as-built records.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, project, and client standards.
  • Perform quality control on drawings and designs.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • At least one year of AutoCAD drafting experience.
  • Post-secondary education in Civil / Mechanical Engineering, Geomatics, Design, Architecture, or equivalent.
  • CET certification or eligibility is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and customization skills.
  • Understanding of civil engineering drawings and site plans.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and work collaboratively.
  • Experience with government permits and legislative requirements.
