Job summary

TekWissen ® is seeking a Senior Technical Writer for a temporary onsite assignment with a global IT client. The role focuses on developing and managing policies, SOPs, manuals and training materials in English, with French language skills considered an asset.

You will work with MS Office tools and a SharePoint/Confluence wiki to produce and review technical documents. Required are extensive IT-Documentation capabilities, a background in IT infrastructure, and familiarity with software

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten years in IT with documentation experience.
  • Strong ability to produce and review technical documents and training materials.
  • Experience with networking, LAN/WAN, servers and telephony terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, edit, and manage documents in English; French considered an asset.
  • Produce documents using Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint/Confluence.
  • Review formats/layouts and implement new formats or styles.
  • Verify clarity, brevity and relevance of information.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and gather information from clients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, edit, and manage various documents, such as policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), manuals, job aids and training, in English (French would be considered an important asset).
  • Produce documentation utilizing provided editing tools such as Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and the web-based corporate wiki tool (e.g., SharePoint or Confluence).
  • Review and suggest improvements for existing documentation formats/layouts, including introducing new formats or styles.
  • Verify existing documentation for clarity, brevity and information relevance.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and verify documentation-related requirements.
  • Gather and verify information through meetings with clients.
Required Skills – Senior
  • University undergraduate degree or diploma or Ten (10) years of progressive experience in IT.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience understanding IT infrastructure terminology as it is used in documentation, specifically networking (LAN/WAN), servers and telephony systems.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience and advanced skills in producing Word, Excel and Visio Pro documents (i.e., MS Office Suite, Adobe, SharePoint, etc.).
  • A minimum of ten years' experience and capacity to produce and review technical documents.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience creating online help files or systems, training packages, etc.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience and knowledge and understanding of software development practices and lifecycle.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience and knowledge with ITSG33 or equivalent documented standards.
Required Skills – Intermediate
  • University undergraduate degree or diploma or five (5) years of progressive experience in IT.
  • A minimum of five years' experience understanding IT infrastructure terminology as it is used in documentation, specifically networking (LAN/WAN), servers and telephony systems.
  • A minimum of five years' experience and advanced skills in producing Word, Excel and Visio Pro documents (i.e., MS Office Suite, Adobe, SharePoint, etc.).
  • A minimum of five years' experience and capacity to produce and review technical documents.
  • A minimum of five years' experience creating online help files or systems, training packages, etc.
  • A minimum of five years' experience and knowledge and understanding of software development practices and lifecycle.
