Job summary

Frima is seeking a Technical UI Designer to join our UI/UX team on a major project. You will design and integrate complex UI systems in Unreal Engine (UMG/Slate), create shaders, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure cross-platform performance.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in design and about five years of UI design for video games, with strong Unreal UMG/Blueprints skills, and excellent bilingual communication in French and English.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Digital Arts, or related field.
  • Five years of UI design experience for video games.
  • Strong command of Unreal UMG and Blueprints (Slate is a plus).
  • Experience with Unreal animation systems is a plus.
  • Advanced shader and material creation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and integrate complex UI systems directly in Unreal Engine (UMG/Slate).
  • Create and optimize custom shaders and materials for advanced visual effects.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and programmers to solve cross-platform integration challenges.
  • Debug, profile, and optimize UI systems for performance across PC and consoles.
  • Develop the UI development pipeline in Unreal Engine with the leadership team.
  • Participate in project retrospectives to improve UI processes.
  • Contribute to evolution of UI tools, templates, and workflows.

Job Description

  • Develop the UI development pipeline in Unreal Engine in collaboration with the technology leadership team;
  • Participate in project retrospectives to improve future UI processes;
  • Contribute to the evolution of UI tools, templates, and workflows used across the studio.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, UX/UI Design, Digital Arts, or another related field, combined with equivalent relevant experience;
  • Approximately five (5) years of experience in UI design for video games;
  • Excellent command of Unreal UMG and Blueprints (Slate is considered an asset);
  • Experience with Unreal animation systems is considered an asset;
  • Advanced skills in shader and material creation;
  • Good understanding of UX and interaction design principles;
  • Strong interest in complex technical challenges and optimization;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both French and English;
  • Portfolio and/or demo required;
  • Availability to travel internationally when required.
