Job description

Canwest Tanks & Ecological Systems is a 100% Canadian-owned and operated provider of water and wastewater storage and treatment solutions. For more than 30 years, we have served customers across British Columbia and Western Canada.

Our product portfolio includes polyethylene and filament-wound FRP tanks for above-ground and underground applications, septic tanks, pump chambers, vertical and cone-bottom tanks, open-top water-storage systems, and advanced moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) wastewater-treatment systems.

We help commercial, industrial, construction, municipal, and environmental customers find dependable solutions that meet their technical, operational, and regulatory requirements.

The Opportunity

Canwest Tanks is seeking a motivated Technical Sales Representative to join our team in Surrey, BC.

This position is suited to someone who combines strong sales ability with technical curiosity and a customer-focused approach. You will learn about each customer’s application, recommend appropriate products and systems, prepare quotations, and coordinate with our internal teams to deliver accurate and practical solutions.

This is primarily an on-site position and occasional local travel may be required for customer meetings and site visits, but extensive territory travel is not expected.

What You’ll Do

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with new and existing customers
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and provide clear technical guidance
  • Understand customer applications and recommend suitable storage or treatment solutions
  • Prepare accurate proposals, quotations, presentations, and supporting documentation
  • Manage leads, opportunities, follow-ups, and sales activity using the company’s CRM system
  • Explain technical product information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with sales, operations, and technical personnel to confirm specifications, product availability, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct product demonstrations and educate customers about product features, installation considerations, operation, and maintenance
  • Participate in occasional customer meetings, site visits, trade shows, and industry events
  • Share customer feedback, market observations, and potential product opportunities with management
  • Contribute toward company sales, pipeline-development, and customer-retention goals
  • Deliver a responsive and professional customer experience throughout the sales process

What You Bring

  • Experience in technical, industrial, commercial, or business-to-business sales
  • A demonstrated ability to develop opportunities, manage a sales pipeline, and achieve sales targets
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into practical customer solutions
  • A customer-focused approach with strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
  • Confidence preparing quotations and working with specifications, drawings, or technical product information
  • Experience using a CRM or similar sales-management system
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally on an occasional basis

Experience or knowledge in any of the following areas would be an advantage:

  • Water or wastewater systems
  • Tanks, pumps, piping, or treatment equipment
  • Construction, civil works, or infrastructure
  • Environmental or industrial products
  • Municipal, engineering, contractor, or distributor sales
  • Polyethylene or fibreglass-reinforced plastic products

Post-secondary education in engineering, environmental science, business, construction technology, or a related discipline is an asset. Equivalent industry and sales experience will also be considered.

Why Join Canwest Tanks?

  • Join an established Canadian company with more than 30 years of industry experience
  • Represent a broad portfolio of practical, high-quality products and systems
  • Work directly with customers on meaningful water and wastewater projects
  • Develop your technical knowledge with support from an experienced team
  • Contribute to the continued growth of Canwest Tanks
  • Work primarily from our Surrey location with limited travel requirements
