Role Summary
Sandvik's Underground Drilling division is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support equipment sales and application engineering across Canada. This role provides customers and the sales team with equipment sizing, layout, and fit‑for‑purpose analysis to support the sales cycle from opportunity through commissioning handoff—and remaining engaged through field support and operational readiness once equipment is on site. The ideal candidate bridges the gap between sales and engineering—translating mine plans and customer requirements into technical equipment recommendations, visual layouts, and evidence‑based reference cases that build customer confidence in Sandvik solutions, and staying hands‑on with customers through delivery and ramp‑up.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Sales Support
- Equipment Sizing & Fit Analysis: Use Deswik to evaluate drift dimensions, turning radii, and mine layout constraints to confirm equipment sizing and compatibility for drills, loaders, and trucks.
- Technical Drawings & Visualization: Build clear equipment fitting drawings and layouts to communicate how proposed machines will operate within a customer's specific underground environment, supporting sales presentations and proposals.
- Reference Case Development: Collect and translate field performance data (cycle times, penetration rates, utilization, production metrics) from existing installations into structured reference cases and benchmarking material to support new business development.
- Sales Support: Partner with Territory Managers and Product Support to respond to technical RFQs, size equipment for tenders, and support customer site visits and demonstrations.
Field & Customer Engagement
- Field and Customer Visits: Travel to customer sites to support technical discussions, equipment evaluations, and pre/post‑sale engagements alongside Territory Managers and Product Support.
- Operational Readiness Reviews: Conduct operational readiness reviews with customers ahead of equipment delivery and commissioning—confirming site infrastructure, layout, training needs, and support requirements are aligned to ensure a smooth start‑up.
- Document Aggregation: Compile and organize customer‑facing documentation (technical specs, drawings, readiness checklists, reference cases, commissioning materials) into complete, easy‑to‑navigate packages for customers and internal teams.
Cross‑Divisional & Internal Collaboration
- Cross‑Divisional Support: Serve as a shared technical resource across Underground Drilling and other Sandvik equipment lines, prioritizing workloads in coordination with respective sales managers.
- Cross‑functional Collaboration: Work with Product Managers, Application Engineers, and Product Support to ensure sizing, layout, and readiness recommendations align with product capability and after‑sales support requirements.
