Job summary

Sandvik Mining in Kirkland Lake, ON seeks a Field Service Technician (Underground) / Heavy Duty Mechanic to service mining equipment. The role requires reading hydraulic and electrical schematics, diagnosing faults, and repairing components across CANADA mine sites.

Travel and varied shifts are possible; prior red-seal or related experience is advantageous. The position includes comprehensive benefits, training opportunities, and a company vehicle where appropriate, plus support from a global

Qualifications

• Trade certification (Red Seal is an asset).
• 3+ years related mining equipment experience is an asset.
• Experience with mining equipment is an asset.
• Common Core training is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults.
• Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective parts or systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper operation.
• Commission new equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare accurate time records, technical reports and parts lists.
• Stay current with industry developments and best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Schedule: 14-14/7-7 fly-in fly-out/drive-in-drive-out (subject to change)

Job responsibilities

• Inspect equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjusting equipment & repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Commissioning new equipment.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Environmental Health and Safety

• Complies with safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
• Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses.
• Perform risk assessments("Take Five") prior to each task.
• Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Maintains orderly work area and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
• Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
• Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Relevant trade certification (red seal is considered an asset).
• At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Previous experience with equipment would be an asset.
• Common Core training is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.
• Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
