Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Heavy Duty Mechanic (Surface Drills) to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain surface mining equipment at customer sites. The role includes commissioning new equipment and on-site training, with travel across Canada as needed.

You will inspect equipment, replace faulty parts, test performance, and contribute to continuous improvement while meeting safety standards and reporting requirements.

Formación

• Trade certification is preferred (Red Seal is an asset).
• Experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.

Responsabilidades

• Repair/replace defective parts and systems per the scope of work.
• Test equipment after repair to ensure operation.

Schedule: 14-14 (subject to change)

Currently, we have an opening for a Field Service Technician (Surface). At Sandvik, the Field Service Technician (Surface) is responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical aspects of surface mining equipment and components according to defined specifications. The Field Service Technician (Surface) is also responsible for new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.

What You Will Be Doing

• Inspecting equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjusting equipment & repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Commissioning new equipment.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Environmental Health and Safety

• Identify and report unsafe work practices, workplace incidents, and near misses. Complete a risk assessment (Take 5) before each task.
• Maintain hand tools and equipment to support safe operation.
• Maintain an orderly work area and meet housekeeping requirements.
• Attend required environmental, health, and safety training.
• Wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each task.

What You Will Bring Along

• Relevant trade certification (red seal is considered an asset).
• At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Previous experience with equipment would be an asset.
• Common Core training is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.
• Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
