Job summary

Sandvik is seeking a licensed Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic for field service across Canada, focusing on surface and underground mining equipment. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and on-site training at customer sites.

This role requires diagnosing hydraulic and electrical systems, reading schematics, and delivering high-quality service. Red Seal is preferred, with at least 3 years of related experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Trade certification (Red Seal) is required at many sites.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with heavy equipment.
• Experience with mining equipment is an asset.
• Excellent ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair skills for mining equipment.
• Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel to local mines across Canada.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjusting equipment and repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Commissioning new equipment.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

At Sandvik, the Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic (Field Service Technician) is responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical aspects of surface and/or underground mining equipment and components according to defined specifications. The Field Service Technician is also responsible for new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.

What you will be doing

• Identify and report unsafe work practices, workplace incidents, and near misses. Complete a risk assessment (Take 5) before each task.
• Maintain hand tools and equipment to support safe operation.
• Maintain an orderly work area and meet housekeeping requirements.
• Attend required environmental, health, and safety training.
• Wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each task.

What you will bring along

• Relevant trade certification (red seal is required at many sites and considered an asset).
• At least 3 years related experience with heavy equipment.
• Previous experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
• Represent Sandvik in customer facing situations with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.
• Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
