About the Role

This is your chance to lead from the front. You’ll manage the full project lifecycle for strategic IT initiatives with a strong focus on mainframe optimisation and modernisation.

You’ll also act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping shape their roadmaps and uncovering opportunities to add value.

This opportunity is available as either a contract role or a permanent position, in a full time or part time capacity, offering flexibility to align with your career goals and lifestyle.

In this role, you will :

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, with a strong focus on mainframe consulting and modernization, for Fortune 500 clients across North America
  • Coordinate and manage project teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and working towards common goals
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets to meet project objectives
  • Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any risks or issues that may arise
  • Communicate effectively with senior-level technical and business decision-makers, including Mainframe IT leaders and CIOs
  • Collaborate closely with our mainframe architects, systems engineers, and security specialists to ensure project success

What You Bring

  • 7–10+ years of experience in managing technical IT projects, with a proven track record of success
  • Hands-on experience in managing mainframe-focused projects such as :
  • Mainframe infrastructure optimization and cost reduction initiatives
  • z / OS systems programming and support
  • Mainframe security (e.g., RACF / ACF2) and compliance consulting
  • Application modernization (e.g., COBOL, PL / I, assembler to Java / .NET transitions)
  • Performance tuning and capacity planning
  • A consultative project management approach and strong ability to understand technical challenges within mainframe ecosystems
  • Working knowledge of the IBM Mainframe landscape in North America — including key technology trends, client pain points, vendor relationships, and partner ecosystems
  • Experience working with clients in regulated industries where mainframe technology remains mission-critical : Banking, Insurance, Government, Healthcare, and Telecommunications
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects with budgets ranging from $100K to $1M within a 3 to 12-month project cycle
  • Skilled in project management tools and methodologies
  • Based in North America with the ability to travel within the region as needed
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical delivery and business outcomes
  • Strength in stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and strategic communication
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with an eye for opportunity and improvement
