Job summary

BEUMER Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist for BEUMER North America’s Minerals & Mining division to develop and execute project-specific procurement strategies for heavy-duty steel. You will be the main contact for project teams on steel-related matters, applying a commercial mindset to supplier selection, price negotiation, and contract terms to support project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business (engineering preferred).
  • 5-7 years procurement experience with respect to heavy-duty steel suppliers in a project environment.
  • Commercial background and technical business overview.
  • Experience working with heavy-duty steel suppliers.
  • Knowledge of project management methods.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Advanced MS Office and BGMS proficiency.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

  • Manage heavy duty steel supplier selection, contracting, and performance for the Minerals & Mining division.
  • Lead heavy duty steel supplier selection, RFQ, and contracting process with input from the project team.
  • Closely monitor and manage heavy duty steel supplier performance with an emphasis on product quality, cost, and schedule integrity.
  • Own the supplier relationship and performance management. Take necessary actions in a timely manner to address performance issues.
  • Procurement Coordinator for the specific project: within the procurement team, initiate regular meetings with the project stakeholders (Project and Technical project managers, Project scheduling centre, category managers).
  • Procurement planning (PPP), follow up on internal time schedules and progress for the project procurement contracts.
  • Ensure cross project visibility of the procurement packages and issues to the relevant category managers (in the specific local/global format) by ensuring that the global/local category managers are timely informed/consulted. To secure forecasting, secure capacity and deadline compliance as well as quality requirements/standards.
  • Ensure flow down of relevant customer contract details in the supplier contracts by defining project specific T&C and contractual concept for the project in close cooperation with the project manager and commercial manager for the project.
  • Ensure the RFQ process delivers comparable and project compliant offers
  • Negotiate and finalize (or support in case the buying is done by different person) specific subcontracts.
  • Support Project Managers in developing and implementing mitigation measures
  • Ensure claim handling
  • Project filing of contracts and information sharing
  • Ensure visibility of procurement in project team
  • Collaborate with other members of the BC Procurement and Supply Chain team for team initiatives and best practice sharing.

Job Description

The Procurement Specialist, supporting BEUMER North America’s Minerals & Mining division, is responsible for developing and executing project-specific procurement strategies and managing transactions with a primary focus on the heavy-duty steel category. This role serves as the key point of contact for project teams on all heavy-duty steel-related matters, applying a strong commercial mindset to supplier selection, performance management, price negotiation, and the establishment of favourable commercial terms and contracts. The overarching objective is to ensure that selected heavy-duty steel suppliers consistently meet contractual obligations, thereby enabling the successful execution of projects and contributing to the overall success of BEUMER North America’s Minerals & Mining operations.

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications
Requirements / Skills / Abilities:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business - engineering is preferred).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of procurement experience and contract experience with respect to heavy duty steel suppliers in a project environment
  • Commercial background and technical business overview
  • Sufficient knowledge and hands-on experience of working with heavy duty steel suppliers
  • Knowledge of overall project management methods
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written, verbal and presentation
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships, excellent negotiation skills
  • Advanced Practitioner of MS Office and BGMS (BEUMER Group Management System)
  • Close communication and frequent coordination with stakeholders (Project Director/Manager, Technical Project Manager, Procurement Team, Contracts Management, Site Management, Cost Control, Planning, Project Subject Matter Experts, The Subcontractor/Supplier).
  • Experience from similar industry and project procurement is highly desired and preferred
  • Able to travel as required by the business, up to 30% of the time
